phpT1glnFThierry Henry considered ending his international career in the wake of his handball controversy against the Republic of Ireland.

The France striker was upset at the immediate lack of backing from the French Football Federation and claimed only the support of his family ensured he continued with Les Bleus.

Former Arsenal captain Henry was ready to turn his back on the 2010 World Cup finals - many people feel that FIFA should ban him from playing in South Africa after his handball enabled William Gallas to score the goal that sent France through.

He said: ‘Maybe I should not have celebrated the goal as I did but it was instinctive and uncontrollable. Yes, I regret it but after the game and even the next day I felt truly alone.

‘Only after I sent my statement did the people from the French Football Federation say anything.

‘I asked myself whether I wanted to continue with the national team. Without the support of my family I would probably not have come to the same decision. It was with them I decided that I will fight to the end.

‘Even so, what happened [with the FFF] will always be engraved. You can always forgive but you can’t always forget.’

Stop moaning and complaining, u irish. Why don’t u blame bloody FIFA & UEFA for not using videos in important matches like that one? Your irish players do hurt other players and even break their careers. Remember Roy Keane ??? Who has not cheated for wanting and obtain penalties?

Yes, it sucks that because of that goal, the irish lost. But there’s nothing you can do about it. You live, you learn, you play again some other day.
