Jamie Vardy scored his first Premier League goal since October to help Leicester avoid a disastrous defeat at relegation rivals Leeds.

Patrick Bamford returned to Leeds’ starting line-up for their crunch relegation clash with Leicester at Elland Road, but Max Wober missed out.

Bamford, among the substitutes for last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Fulham after a calf injury, was one of four changes as Junior Firpo, Luke Ayling and Luis Sinisterra also returned.

Wober was ruled out due to a knock, while Rasmus Kristensen, Brenden Aaronson and Crysencio Summerville dropped to the bench. There was no place in the starting XI for Willy Gnonto, who was named on the bench again.

Leicester made two changes as Harvey Barnes and James Maddison returned from injury and illness respectively in place of Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka.

Luis Sinisterra headed Leeds into a 20th-minute lead at the far post after Jack Harrison’s brilliant cross from the right.

Jamie Vardy came off the bench in the second half to equalise for Leicester.

It was the former England striker’s first Premier League goal since October and he did have the ball in the back of the net shortly after, but he was offside.

Bamford then came very close to grabbing a dramatic winner but failed to convert from close range, leaving the home fans in disbelief.
